Sgt Sylvain Leblanc, an Army cook with 2PPCLI, is a proud member of the Nipissing First Nation in the Garden Village, Ontario District. With 21 years in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), Sgt Leblanc is the military co-chair of the local Defence Indigenous Advisory Group. He was recently given the honour of being one of the Defence Team’s DND/CAF Eagle staff carriers. Moreover, he’s heavily involved in the community, where he helps co-ordinate with the Akitcita Cante Waste (Good Hearted Warriors) promoting Indigenous men’s health. Photos Jules Xavier/Shilo Stag
