This 50-kilometre competition consists of an early morning rucksack march, followed by canoe portage, canoe paddle on Saskatchewan River, and ends with a run. Soldiers from CFB Shilo often use Pelican Lake located near Ninette off Hwy 18 as a training location during the summer, the terrain and nearby lake an ideal location. The intent of 1CMBG’s military competition is to challenge the limits of a soldier’s mental and physical toughness. In the past, 2PPCLI has been a dominant team, as well as often sees the first competitor crossing the finish line wearing 2PCCLI’s maroon T-shirt.
