PHOTO ESSAY: Strong swim key to first-place finish for overall winner Nathan Stafford

He was a beast in the pool — handily mixing up his strokes as he lapped his three group two opponents, before leaving the pool after 33 laps. Then it was on to the 20-K bike ride, which included Hwy 340, followed by a 5-K run on the Base. The top finisher and top male competitor was 2PPCLI’s Nathan Stafford, who crossed the finish line in one hour, 19 minutes, 17 seconds (1:19.17). Of note, he missed an arrow sign and came into the finish area using the same route he left on his bike.
