The fangtastic and bootiful displays that adorn the yards of CFB Shilo residents are cauldroning up some Halloween spirit in 2023.
The annual CFB Shilo decorating contest, hosted by Shilo Recreation Department will be judged by the Base Command team in partnership with the Scouts on Oct. 31 starting at 6 p.m. The ghoulish fun is brewing up prizes of $150 for first place, $100 for second and $75 for third.
Representative for the Recreation Department stated that the contest has been running for more than 20 years. It is well known there are accolades and friendly competition vying for the top spot among community residents.
Corporal Samantha Rogers, a winner in the 2022 contest, was out braving the cold during the day on Oct. 31, preparing their yard for the spooktactular night.
They said they love to decorate with witches, ghosts and characters going all out for the night, adding they hopes the chilly weather doesn’t keep people from getting out to see the displays.
