Lieutenant-Colonel David Cronk, Base Commander of CFB Shilo, received the Canadian Forces Decoration 1st Clasp (CD1) in Edmonton on March 21.

Colonel Robin Dove, Commander of the 3rd Canadian Division Support Group, presented LCol Cronk with the award for more than 20 years of service in the Canadian Armed Forces.

“It is my pleasure to present this today for 22 years of good and loyal service to the Crown to highlight the excellent service,” Col Dove said.

A fourth-generation military member after his father, grandfather and great-grandfather, LCol Cronk’s career in the CAF includes three tours in Afghanistan and one in Kuwait, which led him to the commanding position at CFB Shilo after he returned from a posting in Poland in July 2023. In Poland he was G35 planner for the NATO multinational division set up in 2017 in response to the deterrence operation for Russia’s aggression.
