A 19-match Brazilian Jui Jitsu competition will engage competitors and public spectators at CFB Shilo on June 15 in L25. Event organizers are claiming it to be the best entertainment of the year.
“Get ready for an electrifying evening at the Shilo Submission Showdown at CFB Shilo at 6 p.m. This thrilling event promises to be a highlight of the year, featuring the best grapplers from 1 RCHA and 2 PPCLI, as well as top-notch talent from Winnipeg, Brandon, and surrounding areas,” Joe O’Donnell, event organizer with Shilo Brazilian Jiu Jitsu said.
Shilo Submission Showdown: A Night of Grappling Excellence will feature a ‘mystery match’ that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. Shilo BJJ coach Kevin Camara, stepping in despite Canadian UFC legend Joe Doerksen’s withdrawal due to injury, has boldly declared, ‘I will take on anyone.’ This sets the stage for an unpredictable and thrilling main event that you won’t want to miss.
Other notable matches include “1 RCHA’s most dangerous man,” Travis Swindell’s much-anticipated rematch with Dallas “Big Dog” Penner, and Joe O’Donnell facing off against the skilled Thomas Britton from 17 Wing, Winnipeg. Additionally, Jordan Oakley will grapple with Steven Friesen, and Feleep Suleman will go against Rakesh Zala. The lineup also proudly features two female matches, highlighting female competitors’ growing interest and participation in the sport.
The Shilo Submission Showdown features 19 exciting, submission-only matches, showcasing Shilo’s finest grapplers against formidable opponents. Adding to the excitement, Expressions Entertainment’s DJ and MC services will keep the energy pumping from start to finish.
“With 40 percent of the proceeds going to the Shilo Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) and the remainder supporting the Shilo BJJ Recreation Club’s future kids and adult programs, your attendance not only guarantees a fantastic evening but also contributes to worthy causes,” O’Donnell said.
Concessions provided by the Shilo Service Club will be available cash-only, ensuring the audience stays fueled throughout the evening event.
“Join us for a night of intense competition, community spirit, and support for local programs. Mark your calendars for 15 June at 6 p.m. and be part of the Shilo Submission Showdown!”
