Ziggy Ziggy Ziggy Ziggy Oi Oi Oi! Tickets are still available for the second annual Oktoberfest hosted by the Shilo and Region Service Club on Oct. 19, but they are selling quickly with just a few days left to obtain them, Rosalind Lebel, OPI for the event said.

“This is going to be the best gig in town,” she said. “I’m very excited to get the party started.”

Last year, the event was to capacity and tickets sold early when the function was reinstated after an almost 20-year hiatus.

The popular evening of fun and traditional German frivolity will include an updated menu of schnitzel, hunter sauce, spaetzle (a noodle side dish) and German chocolate cake, a cash bar, freshly baked pretzels for sale, games and music at the CFB Shilo.

Lebel said the best way to get tickets is to visit the L25, building from Oct. 14 to 18 during 9 a.m. to 5 p.m business hours. Tickets are $40 for the general public and $35 for CAF members. Transportation is available from Richmond St. McDonald’s at 5 p.m. out to the Base.

“The Shilo and Region Service Club host events such as Oktoberfest to support funding requests from the community,” she said.

Proceeds from the event are used for school food programs, educational bursaries, community hall upgrades, family support, hospital beds, animal rescue programs and much more.

The Oktoberfest dinner evening takes months to plan Lebel explained, and it wouldn’t happen without the assistance of key Base components and the 100 volunteers who are in the final stages of pulling it all together.

“All this week volunteers will be decorating, setting up tables, and pulling off a huge transformation of the drill hall to make it feel like you are stepping into Germany for Octoberfest. Prost! Come and get your tickets,” Lebel said.
