Shilo Community Council announced the appointment of a new mayor in CFB Shilo on Sept. 22.

With recent new postings and deployments, there has been a shift in the CFB Shilo community, with Lieutenant Rory Kelly now sitting at the head of the council table.

“I hope to alleviate some of the problems the community may have and bring to the attention of the Base Commander any issues the residents want him to know.”

Lieutenant Kelly told Shilo Stag News, while he is new to the mayoral position, he has more than 20 years of Shilo knowledge under his hat.

The new mayor has lived in Shilo since 2005, raising his family and 16-year-old son, who has known only Shilo as his home, he said.

“Shilo is a great place to live and raise a family.”

He issued a callout for more volunteers as ward members are vitally needed. Lt. Kelly said he is looking forward to hearing what the council’s objectives are at the first meeting on Nov. 7 at 10:30 a.m. in the conference room at Base Headquarters.
