It was all glitter and glam during the 2026 CFB Shilo Spring Ball held at the Keystone Centre in Brandon on April 25.

More than 330 guests, including 16 VIPs, attending the black-tie function at the third annual event saw a change of venue. Additional entertainment included 10 casino tables, a photo booth, and $ 5,000 in door prizes, keeping patrons entertained while listening to the music of the RCAF Jetstream Band throughout the evening.

“The CFB Shilo Spring Ball brings communities together. It gives the soldiers, the officers and civilian staff a fantastic night out,” Base Commander Lieutenant-Colonel J.P. Nguyen said.

Attendees boosted support for the Shilo Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) through the silent auction and raffle, raising $2,455 for the organization.

Captain Peyton Habraken, Base Adjutant and an organizer of the reception, said she has received positive feedback and consensus about this year’s fête.

“People loved the food, signature drinks (Shilo Shirley especially), and the RCAF Jetstream Band was phenomenal,” she said.

A four-course menu of strawberry and goat cheese crostini; spinach and berry salad; stuffed chicken breast with smoked tomato sauce, accompanied by roasted asparagus, Yukon Gold mashed potatoes, and parmesan-crusted tomato, had diners’ taste buds tingling before ending the savouries with cheesecake dressed with chantilly cream and dehydrated orange-lemon glaze.
