For military families new to the province following posting season, Prairie Mountain Health (PMH) seasonal flu clinics start Nov. 1.
This year, at the same time, the COVID vaccine, including the bivalent booster vaccine, will be offered.
These free public clinics will run throughout the region until the end of November. Brandon flu and COVID clinics will be held every Thursday in November at the Brandon Shoppers Mall from noon to 5 p.m, except for Nov. 10, the clinic will be from noon to 7 p.m.
Clinics in Brandon will also be held at the Brandon Friendship Centre located at 205 College Ave. Nov. 8 and 22, from 1 to 5 p.m.
Visit www.prairiemountainhealth.ca for a complete listing of flu clinics in the region.
You can also visit PMH’s Facebook, Twitter or Instagram social media platforms for up-to-date messages.
Appointments are preferred for military members’ families; walk-ins will be accepted.
There are two ways to book an appointment online: at Protect MB website visit https://patient.petal-health.com/login?groupId=6032 or call toll-free at 1-844-626-8222 unless otherwise indicated.
You will only need to book one appointment to receive flu and COVID vaccines the day you attend.
The flu vaccine is recommended for everyone aged six months of age and older. However, immunization is especially important for those at increased risk of serious illness or complications from the flu, their caregivers and close contacts.
If you are 65 years or older, you can receive the high-dose flu vaccine; the pneumococcal vaccine will also be available.
All Manitobans aged 12 and older are eligible for the bivalent COVID-19 booster vaccine — it has been developed to provide protection against two strains of COVID-19: the original strain of the virus and the omicron variant.
COVID vaccine eligibility can be found at https://manitoba.ca/covid19/vaccine/eligibility-criteria.html
The COVID vaccine consent form can be found at https://www.gov.mb.ca/covid19/vaccine/resources.html
Masks are required — bring and wear one. Bring your Manitoba Health card and wear short sleeves if possible.
If you are unwell or feeling ill, even with minor symptoms, do not attend your flu shot appointment. If you need to cancel, call 1-844-626-8222.
