Planning for the four-day RCA Reunion is well underway, with organizers releasing an updated schedule of events.
According to organizer Maj Lindsay Jackson, the reunion being hosted at CFB Shilo opens June 29 and “promises to be a busy one for several hundred serving and former members of The Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery.”
The Shilo GUNNERS Reunion 2023 kicks off June 29, with registration followed by a full range of events until July 2.
Here is a summary of planned reunion events for those planning to attend.
JUNE 29
1300 – 1600: Registration desk open at Sergeants’ and WOs’ Mess.
1800 – 2300: Reunion meet and greet at Sergeants’ and WOs’ Mess. Meal BBQ steak, potato and salad. Bar service until midnight. Meal served at 1800.
Of note, there will be an onsite RCA kit shop at Sergeants’ and WOs’ Mess, which is open 1730 – 2000 hrs. The RCA Museum and Kit Shop will be open 1000 – 1600 hrs.
JUNE 30
1000 – 1600: Registration desk open at L25, located north of CANEX.
1030: 1RCHA fire power demonstration beside Range Control.
Of note, immediately following the fire power demo, 1RCHA will be hosting a Family Day to include LAV rides, kiddy commando course, inflatables, other activities. The unit will be open for visitors at its location N133, across from Gunner Arena.
1800 – 0100 hrs – Meet and greet BBQ at L25 — wristbands to be worn; tickets required for dinner. Entertainment provided by Steele Rain.

JULY 1
0800 – 0900: Golf tournament registration at Shilo Golf Club
0915: Golf tournament shotgun start
1000 – 1600: RCA Museum and Kit Shop open
1600 – 1900: Canada Day family activities at L25 and GSH – laser tag, bubble soccer, glitter tattoos, caricaturists, food trucks, beer garden and BBQ.
1900 – 2300: Live performances at L25 featuring Kendra Kay, Michelle Wright, Kenny Shaw and fiddle player Richard Wood.
2300 – 2400: Fireworks at L25
JULY 2
1000 – 1030: GUNNERS memorial service at Canoe River Memorial Park.
1100: Light lunch, good-byes and departures
