Battle of the Badges is brewing again, with some heat expected in 2025 for the two-game competition between Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Shilo personnel and Brandon Fire and Emergency Services (BFES) first responders held at J&G Homes arena in the city on March 10, with puck drop at 8:30 p.m.

The second game will be played on March 19 at CFB Shilo Gunner Arena, starting at 7 p.m. Both games are free to attend and the public is invited to watch the cordial clash.

It’s the second year the two rivals have faced off in the friendly sporting spar, with CFB Shilo showing its prowess on the ice by defeating BFES last year.

Brandon Fire and Emergency Services got wet behind the ears when they had to make good on the wager between the two groups of superheroes by washing a Canadian Armed Forces light armoured vehicle (LAV) after a day of field operations. Comments were unavailable confirming if the LAV did dirty double duty to cake-on mud specifically for the event.

Rumour has it the ante is already laid down for 2025 with the losing team having to sport the winner’s shirts the day after play. The question remains as to which team will dominate in 2025.
