COVID-19 still presents a risk of increased pressure on our health systems. We recently experienced a new wave of COVID in Canada as a result of the Omicron BA.4 and BA.5 variants, and this means we are still at risk of becoming sick, especially with the onset of fall and the return of indoor activities.

Canada awards contract for new Army pistols

The Canadian government will procure an initial amount of 7,000 pistols and holster systems for the Canadian Army. Additional options for up to 9,500 pistols will be available under the contract to cover off the remaining requirements for the Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Air Force, Royal Canadian Navy and Military Police. Pistol delivery is anticipated to begin in mid-2023.

I analyze the newly discovered skeletal remains of Canadian service personnel who were killed in action during the First and Second World Wars, as well as the conflict in Korea, and who have no known grave.
US Army adopts made in Canada approach

The US Army is adopting a made in Canada approach to incentivizing fitness on its annual physical employment standard. “The US Army will use a scale for rewards with green, bronze, silver, gold and platinum,” said Michael McGurk, the director of research, US ARMY CIMT-TRADOC, Army Combat Fitness Test. “Rewards will be used for promotions and order of merit.”
