The RCA Museum is responsible for three monuments at Canoe River Memorial Park, with the artifacts on our registry. We also have signage at the park — located in the middle of the Base and open to the public year-round — for each artifact for those stopping to take photographs or explore what’s on display.

In the fall of 2009, the RCA Museum took over building M101 with its new curatorial centre. This space allows staff to work on collection, rather than in a public space. The building is large enough it now houses 64,000 artifacts which had previously been scattered in storage facilities around the Base.

It was an excellent turnout, with perfect weather conditions Friday morning, when Shilo Community Council (SCC) Mayor Capt James Smith organized a sparing clean-up along Royal Avenue, mosing west towards the Q-Patch. Thirteen large bags were collected, plus other large items.

Gerald Gun has new home on display at RCA Museum’s outdoor gun park

RCA Museum staff recently moved its M114/39 howitzer to a new prominent location in the outdoor gun park. Visitors now have an excellent view of the howitzer’s profile. We also call the M114/39 the Gerald Bull gun. Gifted Canadian engineer Gerald Bull developed long-range artillery making the M114/39 possible.
