It’s time to dust off your golf clubs, the Shilo Country Club (SCC) is now open for the season, after the first ball was crushed April 27 on the first tee box.
Golfers of all ages and skill levels can play the 18-hole course, as well as make use of the course driving range and practice putting greens, with rental clubs also available.
There are plenty of special nights offered, plus the Base has its golf play downs June 12, 13 and 15 starting at 8 a.m. This is where the Base creates its team for the Canada West golf regionals running over six days starting July 23 at CFB Wainwright. Sports co-ordinator Andy Depner is the person to ask questions about this team — call him at 204-765-3000 ext 3894 or reach out on e-mail at andrew.depner@forces.gc.ca
With reasonable rates and scenic views on the CFB Shilo golf course, it’s one of the best-kept secrets in the Westman.
For rates, information and to book your tee time, visit the SCC’s social media platform www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100057444189755
Or call the Pro Shop at 204-765-3623.
SCC is also looking for beverage cart and snack shack staff for the summer golf season — e-mail your resume to Karen Gero at sccgolf@mymts.net

It should be another busy season at the Shilo Country Club, with staff starting to work on the course now that winter has melted away. Staff are needed to drive the beverage cart for the many golf tournaments held on the Base. And as the course greens up with advent of summer, there will be plenty of putts, drives and chips on the 18 holes on this best-kept secret secret in the Westman anong golf courses.
