A former CFB Shilo Base Commander has been recognized by the CDS with a commendation.

It was announced in the Sept. 1 CANFORGEN that former BComd LCol John Cochrane (2015 to 2017) would receive his CDS commendation from Gen Wayne Eyre “for dedication and innovative skills as military faculty and joint command and staff programme officer at the CF College in Toronto, Ont.”

LCol Cochrane has been teaching at the Toronto-based college located at 215 Yonge Blvd. since June 2017.

He did leave briefly while deployed to Iraq for a year as the Canadian Defence Attaché and then returned to the college as the Chief Curriculum Development Officer.

“It’s a great place to work and we have a lot of flexibility to investigate new ideas and educational opportunities,” he told the Stag. “We are also required to keep on top of new technologies, geopolitical concerns and a variety of other things.”
