Several CFB Shilo Canadian Armed Forces members were publicly recognized and praised for inspiring their colleagues and the broader community with their exceptional service to Canada when Sprucewoods MLA Grant Jackson addressed his peers in the afternoon session of the Manitoba Legislature on May 6.
The CFB Shilo delegation was greeted by, and received appreciation from, Premier Wab Kinew, Minister Nahanni Fontaine, and the Manitoba Military Special Envoy Mr. David Pankratz.
At the ceremony honouring exceptional military personnel, Private Caleb Zwicker, Private Angele Leblanc, Master-Corporal Stephanie Bisset, Sergeant Fraser Ashmead, Captain Tanner Kavanaugh, Warrant Officer Sylvain Leblanc, Chief Warrant Officer Eric LeClair, Major Kristin McFadyen, and Lieutenant-Colonel David Cronk were recognized for their dedication, perseverance, and leadership.
“I’ve been privileged to spend time with the incredible people who serve at CFB Shilo at both the Inaugural CFB Shilo Spring Ball and the annual TEAL Up parade in support of military kids. Both events were a resounding success through the dedication of our CAF personnel. I’m pleased to recognize a few of these inspiring service members today,” Jackson said.
CFB Shilo Base Commander Lieutenant-Colonel David Cronk said he and Chief Warrant Officer Eric LeClair were humbled to be asked to attend the provincial legislature to recognize the team.
“We are extremely proud of the team here in Shilo. When opportunities like this come along, it is great to be able to put the spotlight on the efforts of the Junior Officers and Non-Commissioned Members who do the heavy lifting here on Base.”
“It was extremely thoughtful of [MLA Jackson] to take the time and effort to invite the group to the Manitoba Legislature for a public acknowledgement of appreciation. We brought along a group of exceptional Base members to join us in the Assembly Chamber to be personally recognized by Mr. Jackson in front of his fellow legislators.”
“In addition to the exceptionally kind words by Mr. Jackson, It truly was a very special day that would not have been possible without the superb work of all members of CFB Shilo,” LCol Cronk said.
