CANEX manager Melissa Kelly is busy behind the scenes currently preparing for the three-day CF1 Days. Starting July 26, Kelly says, “Lots of great sales including Member Only pricing. Unfortunately, I don’t have the flyer yet [from CANEX head office in Ottawa], so I don’t know what exactly will be featured.”
Away six months — 2PPCLI soldiers on Op UNIFIER (UK) arrive back in Canada

They are back — after six months away in England training Ukrainian soldiers to prepare them for their homeland where they will face Russia’s invading forces, 2PPCLI’s deployed soldiers arrived home by bus. It was after 10:30 p.m. when the bus pulled up at 2PPCLI, and soldiers departed and headed for the MPTF, where family members awaited their arrival. They had flown into Winnipeg following their cross-Atlantic flight home to Canada.
Soldier cycling 1,000 kilometres from prairies, to Canadian Shield

For the third consecutive summer, a military mechanic from CFB Shilo is cycling 1,000 kilometres across the prairies and through to the Canadian Shield to raise funds for the Wounded Warriors PTSD Service Dog program. Sgt Rob Nederlof from CFB Shilo’s Base Maintenance will leave Saskatoon, SK, Aug. 11, with Aug. 19 his scheduled arrival in Kenora, Ont.

Canadian Army’s Leopard 2 main battle tanks began moving by semi-trailer flatbed June 28 from Garrison Edmonton to Montreal. Members of the public may notice these Canadian Army (CA) vehicles on major Canadian highways, including Hwy 1 through Manitoba.
Fourth generation military member follows in footsteps of great-grandfather, grandfather who served in two World Wars

With three generations before him serving in the military, it was only natural CFB Shilo’s new Base Commander follow in their footsteps. Born in Edmonton, LCol David Cronk enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in 2002 under the Direct Entry Officer program as an Armour Officer.
RCA Museum takes possession of Lahr RCHA badge — on display at RCA Reunion

With the support of the City of Lahr in Germany, retired Gunners Bdr Khristian Kowalski and MBdr Jim Daynard recovered and shipped to our museum a hand-painted RCHA badge on a metal plate from the former CFB Lahr. From the 1950s to the 1990s, Canada sent Canadian troops to West Germany to support NATO operations in Europe and other parts of the world. The CF permanently stationed 1RCHA at CFB Lahr from 1967 to 1992.
‘Tinge of sadness’ with LCol Chris Wood ending his two-year stint as Base Commander

Addressing his Change of Command (CoC) audience, LCol Chris Wood called the moment standing at the lectern podium “bittersweet.” “While I am proud of accomplishments of the unit over the last two years, I’ll admit there is a tinge of sadness to be marking the end of my time in command.”

The inaugural Ex TOUGH GUNNER definitely tested the mental and physical mettle of 1RCHA soldiers. This is exactly what CO LCol Joe O’Donnell was looking for when he came up with the idea to add this event to 1RCHA’s to do list after taking command in 2022. “The primary goal of Ex TOUGH GUNNER is to foster teamwork, pushing individuals to collaborate closely while tackling obstacles and overcoming physical challenges,” he told the Stag.

Leaving his job as 11 Health CO to be the DCO at 1 Canadian Field Hospital at Garrison Petawawa will be bittersweet for Maj Joel Bernier. “As I stand before you, my heart is filled with a mix of emotions. It is with both a sense of pride and a touch of sadness I address you as the outgoing CO of this remarkable Unit,” he told an attentive audience during his CoC ceremony held at the Officers’ Mess.
